Skilled visas
These visas are designed to attract highly skilled workers to fill shortages in the Australian labour market.
The skilled visa options include:
- Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189): This visa is for skilled workers who do not have a sponsor or nominator, and who meet the points test.
- Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190): This visa is for skilled workers who are nominated by a state or territory government.
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491): This visa is for skilled workers who are nominated by a state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member to live and work in regional Australia.
- Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186): This visa is for skilled workers who have been nominated by an Australian employer for a permanent job.
- Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187): This visa is for skilled workers who have been nominated by an Australian employer to work in regional Australia.
